Chapter 76 - I didnt do that because of you.
Chapter 76 - I didn't do that because of you.
"How can you say that with certainty?" Jing Lihua didn’t want her hopes to get up. "The first explanation is more reasonable than the second."
"Actually I tried hard to find any evidence related to your mother’s birth to see if she was actually your grandfather’s daughter. But it had been so long and all the records were lost. So I couldn’t reach a conclusion from that. So I checked the records for the day you were born. I got the records from the hospital and matched the facts. It was your mother who gave birth to you. I even confirmed that from a retired nurse, an eye witness. I offered her a huge amount if she told us that either you were brought in the delivery room from outside. But she was adamant that nothing like that had happened. I even checked the CCTV recordings personally."
Heng Bingwen had indeed worked hard.
"Maybe the girl born that day was exchanged with me later."
"Not possible. The hospital is a privileged one and keeps a drop of blood from the newborn in records for the DNA recording. And it matched yours."
Jing Lihua fell back and rubbed her temples. "I have no idea how to follow all that. Just look into my mother’s death details to see if was she who died or not." Jing Lihua still didn’t make her hoped to go up. Because even if it was not her mother’s body she had found in the bas.e.m.e.nt, there was no telling she was still alive.
"Alright President."
Jing Lihua hung up and made her way up to her room. The fashion show had just ended. Su Lanfen hadn’t shown up the whole time. Jing Lihua planned to stop by Zhao Liying’s room before heading for her room. "Now that Su Lanfen was not signed in, it would be Zhao Liying who would they sign." She wanted to congratulate her.
The floor was the one where all the A list models were located including Su Liwei. It was second only to the top floor. When Jing Lihua passed by Su Liwei’s room, she paused for a second and glanced at it.
"Did Su Liwei himself remember what he said to me that night he was drunk?" Jing Lihua wondered. He hadn’t said anything to her again. He had never even mentioned it as if he hadn’t said those words to him in the first place. "Maybe he doesn’t remember it."
Jing Lihua shrugged off the thought and continued to walk for the Zhao Liying room. She had promised Li Zhiqiang that she wouldn’t let any other man touch her. The promise included her avoiding Su Liwei at all costs.
Jing Lihua could hear noises and shouts coming from a room. "Su Lanfen?" She remembered the other day Su Lanfen was crowding this door with her ’fans’. "What is this commotion about?"
"Jing Lihua!" Mo Liang distracted Jing Lihua. "Did you hear what happened?"
"What happened?"
"Come inside first."
Mo Liang explained everything to Jing Lihua. Zhao Liying looked particularly happy. "So after this, not only Su Lanfen but also her manager is screwed. And now even Zhao Liying name is cleared. Two birds at one stone." Li Zhiqiang was indeed praiseworthy.
"They were already screwed the day they messed with you."
"What has any of it to do with me?"
"It has everything to do with you..." Mo Liang winked "...and President Li. Even if you refuse to tell us we know everything. The perfume brand is affiliated with Li empire."
Jing Lihua wanted to roll her eyes. "It is not like that." As Jing Lihua said that she grabbed out her phone and typed a message to send to Li Zhiqiang.
’You said you wouldn’t interfere. Then what’s this?’ She sent the text.
"You spent the night at his penthouse and still say it is not like that?" Zhao Liying cackled. "Don’t worry Xiao Hua. We will always support you. However this President might be, he’ll be a thousand times better than Su Liwei."
"I’m not here to talk about him." Jing Lihua slipped back the phone into her pocket. "I’m here to congratulate you on winning the position. Besides, why do you look so overly happy?"
"Uncle Chen was so pleased with her performance today that he let her have two days off," Mo Liang said.
"What did she even have to do now? Isn’t fashion show over?"
"Xiao Hua, you underestimate my duties. I don’t complain all the time for no reason. Manager Chen had filled my schedule with official parties thrown by some pompous businessmen. I hate those sorts of parties and the cruelty is you have to smile and pretend to like them." Those were some drawbacks of the profession.
"Well. Guess you are not alone." Jing Lihua also hates social gatherings. But she didn’t have to pretend.
"I can try all the restaurants here! We have already decided on the one for tonight. I’ll be going with Mo Liang. Xiao Hua, you want to join us?"
"Not tonight. I’ve to go to dinner with someone else."
When Jing Lihua said that, both Zhao Liying and Mo Liang paused and looked at her with question marks popping on top of their heads. Jing Lihua noticed that.
"Don’t start again." She warned.
"We didn’t say anything."
"But Xiao Hua wouldn’t you..."
"Don’t."
Zhao Liying sighed and gave up. There was no way to make her Xiao Hua spill everything.
When Jing Lihua returned to her room, she glanced at the papers she had prepared to present to President Li. Jing Lihua smiled. Now that she had a close connection to him, the likelihood of his accepting it would increase. After all, it would be highly profitable for him.
"President Li." Jing Lihua thought how foreign yet close that word sounded. She couldn’t combine the ’Devil in rumors and the Li Zhiqiang in her heart into the same person. They seemed like two entirely different persons.
She prepared herself for dinner. "Today’s included, I would be eating with Li Zhiqiang for three consecutive nights." Jing Lihua laughed. She couldn’t have imagined it before coming to Hong Kong that she would be dining with the rumored Devil. But at that time, she also didn’t have a part of her. A part lost in memories that only him made to surface.
Jing Lihua called Mei Xiu. "Quickly prepare the papers for transferring the properties."
"Did President Li already signed the contract?" Mei Xiu sounded excited.
"Not signed yet but he’ll be soon."
"Alright, President. I’m on it!"
When Jing Lihua hung up, she had received a text.
Li Zhiqiang: ’What do you mean? Are you talking about Su Lanfen? Su Lanfen annoyed me at the fashion show. I assure you it hasn’t anything to do with you. I personally admire Zhao Liying skills. So I selected her. Now you wouldn’t want me to ask my company to kick her because of you... Would you?"
Jing Lihua’s lips curled up as she shook her head.
