Chapter 105: Feng!
Chapter 105: Feng!
"Is there anything to report to me? Anyone trying to cause trouble with our Wind Base?" Satella asked as she made her way into the base. As the leader, it was her responsibility to take care of the place until Zhang Qin Feng returns.
"There's nothing much to report, but we had a special guest today. Section Head Victor came earlier to bring him back into the main building." the guard answered while maintaining his posture.
"Special guest? Who was so special to have Victor coming out to get him personally? Did that person come with electronics and trinkets?" Satella continued. As much as she could remember, there's only an elder that gets such respect from Victor.
"Well, the Section Head said he's the boss of our base. He said that if you caught me stopping him from entering this base, I got to say goodbye to my life in this base…" the guard continued. There was not a single lie in his sentence.
"You should keep stopping him until I'm back… Keep on with your work. I'll tell Miria to give you another packet of instant noodles as your reward later." Satella left in a hurry. Picking up her pace, she went straight to the central building without bothering the others trying to greet her.
"What's wrong with the Vice-Boss? If she's rushing to go to a toilet, she can use the one in the shops, right?" the female receptionist said.
"Shush… She's in a hurry for something else. It is your turn to go for a break. Let me handle this." the female survivor that accompanied Satella out handed their backpack to the receptionist to be taken back into the main building.
As for now, it was her turn to handle the exchange table until the receptionist girl took her meal break. Such a practice has been the norm for them for about a week by now.
In fact, everyone here was filled with gratitude in their heart.
Although each of them would have to work their part in exchange for their meal for the day, it was still better than having to go out and hunt by themselves. As nomadic survivors without a place to call home, finding a place like the Wind Base can be said to be a blessing in this hell.
Before they were here, people dying every day was a usual occurrence. Even a trip to the toilet was with the risk of getting bitten by the zombies. But over here, it was considered safe.
Of course, using the word "safe" was too much, as there is no safe place in this world. But it was still acceptable in their mind because it would at least give them a sense of peace in mind for that short moment.
…
…
"Did you guys really collected all of these in a week?" Zhang Qin Feng asked. The surprise was just too much. Although he knew that moving in a group always yield more than double the results, it was not to this extent.
The warehouse Zhang Qin Feng remembered was about two apartment units wide. Before leaving, he did mention to Marvin and Victor to renovate the building and fortify its defense. But what he did not expect was it was taking the entire floor below the penthouse.
As for the laboratory and maintenance workshop, it was now allocated to the floor below for convenience. The people staying inside this entire building were still the seven of them. As for the fourteen new members of the base, they're currently given their own room in the first building.
"Yes, Boss." Victor smiled.
From the electronic tablet in his hand, it seems that electricity is no longer an issue to the base, but that doesn't mean it was more than what they can waste. During the day, the electricity was shut to allow the central panel to recharge. It was activated again at night for security reasons.
"Alright… Although what you got here is what I needed, give me a hand and process them further into pure precious metal that I can use to trade. Can you do it for me before I take them away?" Zhang Qin Feng staffed his hand into the box filled with pieces of jewelry.
Because they had no idea what Zhang Qin Feng would like to do with these things, it was piled into a few boxes before staking them at one of the corners inside the warehouse.
Based on the estimated weight alone, there are at least three to four types of precious metal here. Counting only the gold alone, it is between 30 to 50 kilograms at least. If Zhang Qin Feng were to convert them to the rates of 800 Han Country's Yuan per gram…
'Won't the total gold over here worth about 20 million Dongcheng Dollars or 40 million in Han Country's Yuan?' Zhang Qin Feng gasped for a mouthful of air.
"Boss, if you follow me, I have something else for you to take a look at here," Victor added. Using the electronic tablet in his hand to unlock another door, he seems eager to show Zhang Qin Feng what they kept aside.
Zhang Qin Feng stares at Victor while the door took its time to slide open.
"Are you expecting me to guess what was inside there?" Zhang Qin Feng said as he tried to make Victor tells him what was kept inside.
"Hehehe, let's get inside and take a look. I'm sure the boss will be delighted when you see the machine." Victor then went ahead and took Zhang Qin Feng into the next room.
Based on the windowless design and how fortified it was, it was evident that this room will be treated with complete secrecy.
He was first greeted by the two weaponry shelves tightened on both sides while walking inside. And on the end of the room, there was a recliner chair made from out-of-the-world material.
"A recliner chair?" Zhang Qin Feng was puzzled. But in his mind, Stein's reaction was out of his expectation.
[Toot!]
[Toot!]
[Toot!]
"Feng!" Satella's scream can be heard from his back before he even had time to listen to Stein's response.
