Chapter 490: Destination [Bonus]

Chapter 490: Destination [Bonus]

The silence was brief, but it felt as though it had lasted a lifetime.

The truth of the matter was that even now, no one used a weapon that was so heavy. Even the strongest warriors with Strength-based Classes would only use weapons upwards of a

hundred pounds at most.

General Aleen had had armor on that weighed at least that much overall. But, first, that was one reason why weapons weren't so heavy. Most Strength-based warriors would have to factor in the weight of their armors into that total. And two, General Aleen was still a somewhat special case because he was used to battling with a Combat Mount that would mitigate the loss of Speed.

This was all to say that someone swinging out a 220-pound weapon, a weight total that didn't even include the heavy, long chain on the end, was something that they had simply never seen before.

This was the advantage of telekinesis. There were many who could swing such a heavy weapon if all they had to do was stand still.

But there were none who could do it with such deft control, speed, and dexterity.

There was only one.

With a rattle, the heavy chain and stone vanished into thin air.

Everything happened too quickly. Sylas had only just landed on the ground when the stone vanished and he accelerated forward.

Darla reacted first, but it was Paul who shook himself free of <Stunning Spike> and blocked ahead. Fur burst from his body, and he seemed to grow an extra foot as he activated a Class Skill.

With a roar, he unhooked a hammer from his back and slammed a tower shield to block Sylas' path forward. At the same time, his hammer swung down from the side at an odd angle that made it look as though his arm would slam against his own shield.

Darla took a step, and her slender sword slithered through a gap. Silent and deadly, Paul seemed to be thunder while she was lightning.

Both of them had fury between their brows. Maybe their relationship with Ryan wasn't bad.

Just as it seemed like the situation was set, General Song opened his mouth and let out a resonant hum that sounded almost like an ancient hymn.

Sylas could feel the Will flourishing through the air and pouring into Darla and Paul's bodies. 'A Support Class...'

Sylas' mind worked in overdrive. It was a bit of a surprise that the General had taken such a path, but not enough to take him completely off guard.

Only he knew what his true plans were right this moment.

His fist rebounded against Paul's shield, and he used the momentum to dodge out of the way of his swinging hammer.

However, Paul's hammer came to a sudden stop just before his arm hit his shield. Sylas was almost 100% certain that he had used a skill akin to <Momentum Shift>, but knowing that didn't help the fact that Paul was already prepping a second attack while Darla's sword accelerated beneath General Song's blessing.

Sylas was forced to twist out of the way, <Surfing Frost> canceling as <Chilled Rise> activated once more. This time, he wasn't trying to soar through the air, but he felt as light as a feather. He became quicker on his feet.

Darla's blade just barely managed to cut across the thin surface of his skin, but not far enough to draw anything more than a few droplets of blood.

Sylas made a move to continue his spin to turn back to counterattack, but he could already see Darla retreating in his visualization at the same time Paul's hammer descended once again.

General Song's hymn echoed, and Sylas felt something reverberate against his mind as though two loud bells had suddenly rung right next to both of his ears.

The disorientation took him off guard, and by the time <Master Counter> activated to clear his mind, Paul's hammer was inches away.

BANG!

Sylas barely had the time to block with his forearm and elbow against his torso as he felt his body curve forcefully to the side beneath the shocking weight of the strike.

He coughed out a mouthful of blood, and his Aether skin cracked and shattered.

Darla followed up swiftly, and though he managed to dodge fatal damage, there was a piercing pain in his shoulder. Without his Aether skin, the sharpness of her blade slipped in almost too easily.

A great wave of danger rebounded against Sylas' mind. He hurried to retreat, moving back faster than Darla could pierce forward, but the tip of the blade still remained in his flesh just enough as the Skill activated.

BANG!

An explosion of Aether rippled as Sylas' shoulder seemed to combust from the inside out. Blood and flesh flew in all directions as an enormous chunk seemed to be taken out of his delt.

Sylas was sent flying backward.

The situation only seemed to be getting worse. The teamwork of the three was on another level, and the surrounding army hadn't vanished. The exchange between them was quick and sudden, so the army had yet to properly react. But after several seconds had passed, how could they not?

Now, Sylas was flying backward, heavily injured, all while facing off against an incoming wave of thousands.

He looked completely screwed.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

But for some reason, General Song couldn't help but frown. Then his eyes widened as Sylas slammed into something.

BANG!

The bars of the cage dug into Sylas' back, practically threatening to split him in two...

But this was exactly where he wanted to be.

Ryan had been behind Darla and Paul, near General Song. After all, he was the archer of the group. In order for those two to attack him, they had to turn around. Which meant that when

they sent Sylas flying backward...

They sent him right to his destination.

General Song opened his lips to roar, no doubt executing another disruptive technique.

However, Sylas sent out a pulse of telekinesis that buried it.

What they didn't expect, though, was that Sylas didn't even reach for the Basilisk King first. Instead, he brought out the Planar Convergence Gate and activated its last usage.
