Chapter 491: Waiting [Bonus]
Chapter 491: Waiting [Bonus]
This time, Sylas planned to hold nothing back. He used up the third and final usage of Planar Convergence Gate without the slightest hesitation.
The instant he did, there was a new and sudden surge of Aether and the entire situation
changed.
General Song was in complete shock. Seeing the gate appear, he suddenly realized that from the very beginning, everything had been triggered by Sylas.
This gate and the one on the Great Celestial Wall were identical!
The tide of beasts split in two, and suddenly the perimeter that had protected General Song near the back of the army was compromised as a large number of beasts began to divert their attention to this Gate instead.
However, Sylas had already reached out another green hand formed of his Will into the cage and touched the Basilisk King.
The two master and beast didn't exchange a word, but Sylas wasn't blind. He could see the injuries on his body. It was just that Sylas didn't have it in him to have the usual sentimental response... not for a beast, at least.
That said, he could recognize those blade marks, and even if he had no sentimental, emotional attachment to the Basilisk King... what he did feel was that the Basilisk King was one of his keys to become strong enough in the future to break Earth free of its predicament... to become strong enough to truly control his own life.
Anyone who threatened him in this way had to die.
Sylas took a leap backward after the Basilisk King vanished and entered the portal. From start to finish, he didn't look at Morgan more than once.
"After him!" General Song roared furiously. He realized that Sylas wasn't trying to target him at all, he just wanted to get his beast and escape.
They had made the wrong play. It seemed that Sylas only cared about the beast and didn't care about Morgan. It was even likely that Morgan had been tricked just like the rest of them had been. After all, Morgan's explanation was perfectly sound.
...
Sylas appeared in a familiar Evergreen forest. He looked toward one direction and found the System City in the not-too-far-off distance. It was all well in his calculation.
His gaze flashed as Darla, Paul, General Song, and a surge of other Celestial Republic soldiers were sent flying into the forest as well. Without hesitation, he turned and ran.
The location of the gate wasn't ideal, and he had been flung away from the city. If he tried to run toward the city now for support, he would end up surrounded by the large number of men and women that were now coming after him.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Seemingly without a choice, Sylas pulled out his Blue Cyclone Horse. Blood fell from his shoulder in waves and his Speed seemed to have hit rock bottom.
A chase began through the forest and Sylas only seemed to be growing weaker.
However, all of a sudden, he came to a stop.
The horse beneath him vanished and he landed on the ground. He stared out into seemingly blank space before his head snapped in a certain direction.
This was exactly what he was waiting for.
WHOOSH!
A surging aura came from Sylas as he popped the Arctic Emperor Cobra's transmutated pill into his mouth. The moment his healing reached a certain threshold, his Fusion with the Bone-Tailed Lizard completed in an instant.
His spine rippled and formed a twin, parallel line of bone spurs, his skin became covered in a muddy green array of scales, and a heavy bone tail extended from his back.
He activated the Bone Coil Gene Talent at the same time and his Constitution more than doubled in a brief instant. At that moment, he had a Constitution of over 1500, not even including the over 400 Defense of his Aether skin.
He reached out and grabbed at the air.
An invisible dagger was caught in his palm and the sound of clashing metal reverberated around the world.
Before Grin could react, Sylas' fist was even faster. A green glow enveloped his arm and he unleashed his strongest <Psychedelic Punch>.
His tendons threatened to shear off the bone, but his bones themselves were practically like steel, their density so great that his fist tore right through Grin's guts.
The feeling of intestines shifting and a spine breaking echoed through his body.
Grin shuddered and he keeled over, coughing out a mouthful of blood so dark it almost looked black. His eyes were wide. Never did he expect something like this to happen.
He didn't realize until the last moment that Sylas had done all of this just for the sake of making sure he was dead. He even intentionally set up the Gate in the wrong location, knowing it would expel him further from the city, because he knew that Grin would still be trapped outside of it.
Someone who knew his trump cards would find it obvious. He hadn't fused with his contract, he didn't use <Cyrobane Elevation>, he didn't even use <Madness Control> or summon Nosphaleen who would have been a huge additional help...
In what world could he possibly have been going all out?
And it was purely to set up this situation right here.
With a hand firmly grasped onto Grin's spine, Sylas ripped and contorted his torso to dodge an arrow before launching him.
Grin's body shuddered once before it erupted into a rain of ash that fell from the skies above, obscuring the vision of many as the now dead man's dagger pierced itself into a nearby tree.
Sylas' expression was as cool as ice as he took a step forward, entering the storm of ash. All one could see in the darkness was a pair of eerily glowing green eyes.
Then, with another step, he accelerated.
<Cyrobane Elevation>.
<Madness Control>.
The 70% boost to his Speed and Dexterity became 84%, causing the two to almost hit 960 in a
flash.
What was left in Sylas' wake was complete and utter carnage.
Every time his tail flashed, a head exploded. Every time his fist collided with flesh, bone shattered. Every elbow, every kick, every knee.
He turned the battlefield into a dance floor caked with blood, the rhythm of his steps bringing
death.
