Infinite Potential System

Chapter 460 Mana Circuits

The heat of the fireball grew more intense as it approached Juno, but it suddenly disappeared before a muffled explosion resounded from across the hall. Juno opened his eyes in surprise to see a portal in front of him, the other side leading to the area right next to the two students.

"You're welcome." William said as he closed the portal. He didn't gloat or smirk, but Juno still found William's attitude annoying. He chose to simply nod without a word.

Across the room, William and Juno watched as a middle-aged woman in business attire approached the two students and reprimanded them in the hallway. Her face was stern like the exam proctor's, but she didn't seem to fully understand the situation and simply bellowed without a target.

Her arms were crossed in front of her chest in an overbearing manner, and she spat as she talked, emphasizing every word that came out of her mouth like it was heavenly scripture.

It only took a single look for William to decide he didn't like her, and he was sure that her students thought the same.

"That's the second-year professor, Madam Aventa Slightwing." Juno explained when he saw William's expression. "She's probably the most hated person in this Academy, but her status as a member of the Slightwing Family lets her keep her position in the school."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Even the Principal won't remove her?" William asked.

"Believe it or not, she's quite talented and earned good grades when she attended this school almost four thousand years ago. The Principal could remove her, but her teaching ability is obvious. If we were to lose her, the chances of our school hosting the Competition's winner would go way down."

William understood. It wasn't a matter of personality, but skill and talent. He might do the same if he was in the Principal's shoes.

While the angry professor pulled the two students aside, William and Juno walked past them and entered their assigned classroom. Inside, roughly fifteen students were already seated, while almost forty more had yet to be filled.

William didn't idle in the doorway and quickly chose a seat between the quiet Odessa and a brown-haired girl with chestnut eyes named Mikaela Mirov. They were both extraordinarily beautiful in their own right, but that wasn't what drew William's attention.

Surprisingly, he found himself wondering if he was a match for them in his current state, with only a few Talents to use and sub-par Cultivation. The women were ranked second and fourth on the entrance exam, respectively, and William felt a slight hint of pressure from each as they briefly glanced in his direction.

That was it, though. There was no more than a single glance before the two women returned their attention to the front of the room, becoming still as statues while waiting for the professor to arrive. They treated William as if he was hardly a threat, almost as if they had deduced everything about him from the beginning.

Tough crowd... William scratched his head awkwardly as he did the same. Filem Academy wasn't a school for the weak, nor for the absent-minded.

The remaining students filed in, most from the original group of fifty students initially accepted. When the final count was made, William noticed that there were actually sixty in the room. He guessed that there were a few exceptions made for talented or privileged ones.

"Good morning, everyone." an unfamiliar and high-spirited voice came from above. The class was startled and looked up, just in time to see a flash of white fur disappear into the ceiling tiles.

Moments later, a pink nose popped out from one of the walls, "It's good to see many attentive ones this year, I wonder how you'll do."

The pink nose retracted, disappearing for a second time before popping up through the floorboards and landing on the desk in front. It was a white ferret, and its eyes bore a unique intelligence that was very unlike that of a normal Magical Beast.

Without another word, the ferret shapeshifted into a shaggy-haired man with glasses and a lab coat. His hands were immaculate without so much as a hint of a scar, while his fingernails themselves were neatly trimmed into perfect semicircular shapes.

Painted on each of his fingernails were different phases of the moon, progressing from new moon to waxing, to full moon, and finally waning.

He smiled brightly, snapping his fingers and creating a summoning circle that made a second identical ferret appear on his shoulder. This one's eyes were a bit dull, as if it was no smarter than a box of rocks.

"Pop quiz, who am I?" he spoke loudly as the ferret wrapped itself around the back of his neck.

"Stupid?" a man wearing all grey blurted.

"No..." the man looked at the speaker with narrowed eyes. With a snap of his fingers, the grey-clothed student's eyes crossed, and he slumped to the floor.

Mikaela raised her hand, seemingly unafraid of the man's action, "You are Professor Tenningbrew."

"Correct!" Professor Tenningbrew snapped his fingers, a small summoning circle appearing in front of Mikaela and producing a tiny silver coin with his face on it. "You get a Tenningbuck for that! Anyone else have an idea?"

A Tenningbuck? Are we five? William almost facepalmed.

Professor Tenningbrew glanced in William's direction, but he didn't say anything and looked around the room, waiting for another student to answer his question.

Another hand was raised, "You used to be a pure human, but you modified your bloodline and integrated it with the Solar Ferret Clan's, gaining a few of their abilities in return. Right, Professor?"

"You're close, but I'll give it to you." Professor Tenningbrew produced another coin for the student.

He closed both summoning circles and walked to a chalkboard behind his desk, using Earth Magic to produce a floating piece of chalk that drew on the board with inhumane speed. In a few moments, an incredibly lifelike anatomical diagram of a human appeared, while small dots covered it from head to toe.

Not only were there dots in unique places, but there were also tiny lines that traced from one dot to the next as if it was a children's game of connect-the-dots.

"You've all been pretty accurate so far. Can you tell me what this is?" the Professor asked with a slight smirk.

Everyone looked at the dots for a long time, but no one had an idea or raised their hands. Even William was completely stumped, and the System wanted him to pay an entire Ascended Point for the answer. Read the latest on empire

The Professor waited another ten seconds before speaking again, "This is a diagram of the human body, obviously, but there's much, much more to it than that."

He paced around the room, "Every human, Magical Beast, God, and even Demon has these features. The dots are called Mana Points, which you might already know, and the lines are Mana Veins. Together, they make Mana Circuits.

There's a reason why your Families haven't revealed this information to you, because this knowledge can be very dangerous. When one knows of the existence of Mana Circuits, modifying them becomes possible. When you can modify a Mana Circuit, things can improve for the better or the worse, sometimes even stunting your potential forever.

In your first year as my students, I will teach you how to modify your Mana Circuits to become most ideal to you, jumpstarting your path to become renowned Cultivators across the Slightveil Plane."
