Chapter 618: Chapter 618 - The King’s New Chapter

Leon quietly said the name of the man standing before him, "Kingsley?" "Yes, Master," Kingsley replied with a small nod and a polite smile.

The girl in his arms waved at Leon. "Hi... I know you..."

Leon smiled at her. "Hi..."

"My name is Azu," she said proudly. "And you're... Broken, right?"

Leon chuckled softly. "Yes, that's me. Hi Azu, nice to meet you."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"I knew you'd come to visit," Kingsley said. "But I didn't expect it to be today."

"Hi, yes... it's nice to finally meet you in person."

"Likewise, Guild Master," Kingsley replied with a nod. Then, he gestured toward the nearby park. "Would you like to take a walk there? We can chat more comfortably."

"Absolutely, that would be great," Leon agreed.

After arriving at the park, Kingsley returned with two cans of beverages he had purchased from a nearby vending machine. He handed one to Leon before taking a seat beside him on the park bench.

Nearby, Kingsley's daughter, Azu, could be seen running around, laughing and playing with other children.

Leon cracked open the can, took a sip, and let the silence stretch for a moment before Kingsley spoke.

"People call me King."

"Is that your actual name?"

Kingsley shook his head slowly. "No, it's not. King isn't my real name. It's more of a title."

He was quiet for a moment. "A reminder of who I used to be back when I was part of a gangster organization."

His gaze fixed on the park where his daughter was playing, before continuing, "I held a lot of power back then. The name King was meant to represent that... but those days are long behind me."

Leon nodded thoughtfully, recalling what Freya had once told him about Kingsley's past. He had been a high-ranking member of a mafia gang but had left that life behind, choosing a quieter existence centered around his small family and his daughter.

"It's admirable," Leon said softly, "to leave behind a life like that and start over."

Kingsley smiled faintly. "It wasn't easy, but Azu gave me a reason to change."

The two men shared a quiet moment, watching Azu's joyful laughter echo through the park.

"I think we could spend the whole night just talking about that, your... interesting story?" Leon said with a faint smile.

"If that's okay with you, Master," King replied, nodding slightly.

"It was a very dark past," King said gently, a soft smile gracing his lips. "But I'm so grateful for the life I have now... With my beloved daughter and a wife who understands my past and accepts me for who I am."

"I can really see the warmth in you when you hold your daughter."

They chatted casually, covering lighter topics, until King steered the conversation toward something more relevant.

"Ronald has told me about the team invitation, and I've already accepted it," King said. "He mentioned that you'd come to visit me personally, so I followed his plan."

"Thanks," Leon replied with a smile. "So you're okay with joining the team, right?"

"Yes, I don't have any problem with it," King said. "However, I'm not as powerful as the others. I'm worried I'll end up being a burden, Master."

Leon shook his head reassuringly. "We're not aiming for anything too serious. I just want everyone to enjoy the competition and gain some valuable experience. Winning is just a bonus."

King considered his words, then nodded slowly. "Alright, Master. I'll accept this invitation. I'll do my best."

King's daughter, Azu, skipped toward Leon with a cheerful smile.

"I saw you riding a Pegasus, and it looked amazing! Could I borrow your Pegasus sometime?"

Leon chuckled softly. "Hey there..." he said. "Of course, I'd be happy to let you borrow my Pegasus when you log in to Immortal Legacy. But... I hate to break it to you... the 'Pegasus' you saw is actually a fox with wings. Is that okay with you?"

Azu tilted her head. "Yes! So, is a fox not a Pegasus?"

Leon smiled warmly, crouching slightly to meet her eye level. "Well, technically, a Pegasus is a flying horse. But I think the experience will be just as fun since my flying fox is super cute. I'm sure you two will get along great."

"Yes, I like it!" she exclaimed enthusiastically.

Having spent much of his life with his younger sister, Leon was naturally adept at engaging with little girls. His familiarity shone through as he responded warmly to Azu's growing list of curious questions, each answer given with patience and kindness.

As their time drew to a close, Leon stood up, preparing to leave.

"Please let me know if you plan to visit Melliandra's mansion. I'll be there until tomorrow morning," he said, smiling as he extended his hand toward King.

"Of course," King replied with a nod. "I'll contact Melliandra and keep you informed."

Leon bid them farewell, walking away with a satisfied expression. This meeting had been unexpectedly enjoyable. Talking with King had been a unique experience, further adding to the list of fascinating individuals Leon had encountered in recent days.

London, a wealthy man who chose to live in isolation; Melliandra, a boastful and indulged young lady from a privileged background.

Well... even now, Leon hadn't met all of his guild members in person. This thought only fueled his determination to meet them all eventually.

But seriously, meeting each person and learning about their real-life backgrounds, so vastly different from the personas they portrayed in the game, added a whole new layer of surprise

and intrigue.

Kingsley, for example, was one of the most humble and amicable players in the game. He was always quick to show appreciation and praise for others' efforts. Even from the very beginning, he had demonstrated his humility by apologizing on Melliandra's behalf for her mistakes.

Back during the defense of Deadbay City, it was Kingsley's effort that allowed them to hold out long enough for reinforcements to arrive. Without him, their survival might have been

impossible.

And here he was, in real life, a man who had retired from a dark and dangerous past to create a peaceful existence for himself and his family. The contrast was captivating, a testament to the complexity of people and the stories they carried.

But there were still two or three more names on the list he needed to meet for the Eternal

Challenge team.

Who could they be?
