Chapter 190 – Victory and Next Move
Gathering her Qi around her, she created a barrier to stop the dark Qi. It was a thin layer of ice that stopped the mist from moving any further.
Qi acted like an oil and water against each other. They didn't mix well, and it was near impossible for dark Qi to get past Anya's barrier unless she wanted to mix it.
Thankfully, Head's body had stopped expanding. She couldn't get bigger as she was already a big ball of flesh. Following that, red lines formed on her body, indicating that she was ready to explode.
'Now!'
Anya rushed toward Head's body and pushed her ice barrier with all her strength. It was a little hard as the dark Qi was corroding it, but she had no choice. She gathered all her strength and was ready to punch it.
While rushing forward earlier, she thought of something. If she carried this away, she would probably get caught in the explosion and that would injure her greatly. More than anything, her Leader would hate it if he saw her getting injured.
If only she still had her wings, it would be doable to bring her into the sky and escape. But her wings and claws were broken from the enemy's attack that she couldn't predict.
That was why she changed her strategy. Instead of bringing it away with her, why didn't she just punch it away? She had the necessary strength to do it.
'Convert half of the Nanites from enhancing my speed to strength. Focus this Qi thing into my hand to further increase the explosive force. Then add ice to cover my fist.'
She wasn't really good with this Qi thing, but she had a feeling that she could do it.
Her Nanites weren't infinite. She had to pop a Nanites recovery capsule while gathering her strength to repair the broken Nanites inside her. Thankfully, she still had a lot of capsules left, and she could keep going.
Her plan was working.
The ice covering her fist had increased her strength, and her Qi was focused into her hand.
From what her smart lenses analyzed, the explosion would happen in 10 seconds. Head's body would explode and send the dark Qi into a shockwave that would destroy everything around her.
According to the analysis's result, the damage would cover more than 5 KM in range.
That was not good.
"Move! Move! Move!"
With a shout, Anya punched Head with all her strength. The ice around her fist broke, and the dark Qi around it shattered. She had expected that, and she wasn't afraid of the dark Qi.
She kept pushing with all her strength, and soon she reached the body. She pushed harder and harder, until finally, it worked.
"Fly!"
Bang!
Head's body was punched away and it flew into the sky at a sonic speed. The flesh and dark Qi exploded in the sky, creating a huge explosion that sent a shockwave to the ground.
As it exploded, Anya didn't stay silent. She immediately ran to the evacuation Hall at a fast speed, thinking that she had to create an ice barrier to protect it.
However, when she could see the hall, she witnessed Sherly expanding her last strength to spread her Qi and protect them. She smiled at the sight and called out to her.
"I will help you!"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The shockwave reached them, and Sherly was not strong enough to protect the hall completely. She was injured, and Anya knew that.
So, she made a split-second decision. She stopped beside the girl and expanded her Qi. She had just enough to make a thin layer of ice to cover the entire halls.
As the shockwave hit the ice, it was like hitting a hard surface. The ice was cracked but did not shatter. It managed to stay in one piece, protecting everyone inside.
"Phew."
"Haa..."
Both of them sighed in relief and fell on their backs. They were tired and injured. Sherly couldn't believe that she had to destroy her dantian and reset everything, and Anya was tired from using her Qi to the fullest for the first time ever.
"Hahahaha..."
"Hehehehe."
They both chuckled in the middle of the ice-covered evacuation hall.
They won, and it was time for them to rest.
But before that, there was something else that they had to do.
"Let's check that the enemy is really dead." Anya rose to her feet and dusted her bodysuit. "We can't be careless."
She didn't feel any trace of Head's Qi or presence through the scan, but she had to make sure.
Sherly didn't say anything. She just stayed on the ground, breathing heavily as she felt her wound opening again.
"I... Will rest in the Hall. If something strange happens, I will contact Leader for you."
"Ah, that would be nice." Anya smiled and nodded. "I'll be right back."
With that, she turned around and walked away. Eating another Nanites recovery capsule, Anya felt her stamina recover a little. Her Qi also recovered slightly, but not much. Only enough to keep her moving and looking for the enemy.
But she couldn't find Head's body anywhere. It was like she disappeared from the face of the earth.
"Did she blow up really bad that her body is gone?" She muttered, confused. "That would be nice."
But she still had to make sure. She scanned the area around the Halls and the Capital, but she couldn't find anything.
"Let's report to Leader that I defeated Head. That should be enough. I can't think of anything else to do." She sighed and turned around.
It was time for her to rest, and she didn't want to stay in this place for too long.
"Ah, I hope Leader will give me more praise for this." She smiled as she walked away from the area.
The evacuation Hall was safe now, and she had done her job. She would return to her team and let them know what happened. She was sure they were going to be happy to hear it.
"It seems Anya had defeated Head who attacked the evacuation halls in the Capital." Jessica reported to Leo as she leaned back to her seat. "We have sent the Elders back to Chengdu for treatment and Chiaki stayed behind. Leader, should we go to the Capital once again?"
Sitting in the weapon control seat, Leo hummed in thought. He didn't expect the enemy to target the evacuation hall so soon, just right after he returned from saving the Elders.
'Are they in a hurry for something?' He thought. 'This is pretty strange. They should've consolidated their strength in the headquarters instead of sending Head to attack the evacuation halls. Unless there is something that I missed. What is it?'
His eyes moved to the radar screen in front of him, which he linked from the navigation seat, and he frowned. There were still fights happening outside the Capital. The people from Sects went against the human puppets, trying to take them down.
If Head was really defeated, how could the enemy still defend against the Sects? It was not possible. Unless the puppets were auto controlled by something or someone.
'Maybe it's time for me to directly attack the Murim Alliance. I have tested this aircraft's weapon, and it's enough to destroy everything in its path.'
Decisions had to be made.
At that moment, communication arrived from Jack.
"Leader, we've destroyed everything we can. Should we advance to the Capital and provide backup? To be honest, Xiao Ah Tian is making a fuss and he want to fight the henchmen boss. He has a feeling that he will fight someone really strong, he said."
"Did he?"
A martial artist's feeling was more often than not correct, especially someone like Ah Tian who had reached the pinnacle of his power and had experience fighting all kind of enemies.
Stay tuned with empire
"Then go to the Capital. For now, stay in the evacuation halls and help Anya to defend it. She got injured from fighting, so help is needed. I will head over there after making a small stop."
"Roger that."
With that, communication ended.
"Jessica, go to the mountain where we escorted the Demon Sect in the past. We will need their help in this battle." Leo spoke as he crossed his legs.
His eyes looked at the scenery outside shown on the screen. He could see the mountain range in the distance, and he was ready to head over there.
"Roger that." Jessica nodded and set the coordinates and prepared for the change in direction.
All Leo hoped right now was for the war to end quickly so he could focus on improving the Mercenary Union and building his strength.
He had been waiting for the right moment to attack the Murim Alliance, and it seemed like that moment had arrived.
The end was near, and he would do his best to bring it to an end.
However, thinking just about the end wouldn't be enough.
The path to the end had to be paved with blood and death, and Leo wasn't afraid of it. He had been through enough to not feel anything for killing his enemies.
Patience was the key. If he was unable to eradicate the Supreme Evil's followers completely, they would multiply like rabbits and become a huge threat in the future.
This was one of the reasons he had been waiting for the right time to attack. He needed to find the headquarters and destroy everything inside it.
And... he hadn't yet found out who twisted the Supreme Evil's will and wrote it in that book. Were there more books like that? He also didn't know.
'It's really troubling. I hope I get transferred to this world after the novel is finished. Unfortunately, the book has many chapters, and I have no idea what the end will be.' Leo thought, sighing to himself.
He had been living in this world for long enough that he felt like it was his real life now.
Leo shook his head. He didn't want to think about it.
For now, he had to focus on the current battle and making sure he won.
What do you think?
