Mercenary Harem in Murim Novel

Chapter 191 – Unable to Die Like a Cockroach

"I never expected you to come here by yourself, benefactor. That kid, Kim Min-Gu, had sent a letter explaining how you helped and saved him. I can't thank you enough for your kindness."

Sitting in the huge office in the mountain, Leo looked at the old man in front of him. His eyes were filled with gratitude and respect as he bowed to him.

"You don't have to bow to me, Heavenly Demon. Your disciple has hired us, just like what you did in the past. The price, which he hasn't paid yet, is in the form of help in case I need it." Leo explained and waved his hand. "Don't think too much about it. We're not a charity or anything."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Ha! That's what I like about you, benefactor. You're straight to the point and honest. No wonder that kid chose you as his friend." The old man chuckled and straightened his back. His eyes narrowed seriously. "So, you're here to ask for help, right? What kind of help do you need?"

"To detect dark Qi." He answered immediately. "I need help to find the Supreme Evil's altar or something that would revive him. Before it's too late."

"Oh, that's going to be a bit troublesome." The old man frowned and rubbed his beard. "Indeed, dark Qi has filled the world as of late. It's getting thicker and thicker as time passes. I have some guesses, but to think the worst one is true..."

"Do you have a way?" Leo asked. Read chapters at empire

"I have a way." The old man nodded and smiled, "And we will gladly help. Not only did we owe you one, but we know that Supreme Evil's followers were the one behind the attack on our sect. It's a chance to exact revenge for the fallen."

Leo's eyes brightened at that. He knew that the old man wouldn't refuse him. They had history, and the old man had no reason to refuse him.

"Then I will leave it to you. If possible, I'd like to depart right now. Is there anyone who can follow me immediately and can detect dark Qi's source better than Kim Min-Gu? I can take 3 people with me."

"Haha, don't worry. We have one here."

The old man stood up and walked to the door. He pushed it open and called out to someone outside.

"Old Jin, are you still meditating? It's time to get off your butt and go on an adventure! Benefactor is here to take you out! You can't die in the mountains anymore! Hahaha!"

"Oh, you can shut up. You don't know how to respect your elders!"

An old man's voice replied from outside, and soon, a figure entered the room. He just appeared like a ghost, and he was frowning at the Heavenly Demon that had called him.

"Benefactor, this is Old Jin. He has a good nose and can smell dark Qi from far away. His ability is very good, and he's been living in the mountain for decades, so he must be sensitive t-"

"Heh, if you continue, I am going to ignore you for another decade. Don't test me, brat." The old man called Old Jin looked at the Heavenly Demon with a frown.

Then, he turned to Leo and stroked his chin.

"Hmm, I recognize your scent. You're the one who saved my disciple when I was in the cave and had this sect's got attacked. I was going to return the favor to them, but you already did the job for me."

Old Jin nodded with a smile, "So, you need me to detect dark Qi? I can help you with that. That old bone's followers dare to touch my sect. They need to pay the price for it."

Hearing that, Leo began to realize who this Old Jin was. This man was mentioned a few times in the novel, but his personality wasn't mentioned at all. He only appeared in a text about the previous Heavenly Demon, someone who knocked the 9 Stars many times.

From what he understood, this Old Jin was someone that the Sect Leader considered to be his master. The former Demon Sect Leader, Heavenly Demon, was a very powerful and respected figure. He was said to be unbeatable, and no one had managed to defeat him in a long time.

The former Heavenly Demon himself didn't show himself much in the novel after giving his title to the current Heavenly Demon, but his presence and power were shown to be one of the strongest.

And even now, Leo could feel an oppressive feeling just by being in his presence. It was like being in the presence of a beast that could eat him up in one bite.

He was strong, and Leo couldn't underestimate him.

"I am counting on you." He said, nodding at the old man. "Is there anyone else who will join us?"

"You don't need anyone else, benefactor." The Heavenly Demon spoke as he sat back in his chair. "Old Jin can handle everything by himself. He's stronger than he looks, you'll see. I will bring my men and help the attack after we finish the evacuation. We will arrive in time."

"That's great to hear." Leo smiled and stood up. "I will depart immediately. Old Jin, let's go."

"Don't tell me what to do, brat. You're a hundred years early to be giving me orders." Old Jin frowned and walked to the door.

The Heavenly Demon shook his head at the sight, "You have to watch what you say. Old Jin is really sensitive, and he might actually sulk you if you say something he doesn't like."

"Who is going to sulk over what?!" Old Jin shouted from the door.

"Heh." Leo chuckled at the sight and nodded to the Heavenly Demon. "Thank you for your help. Let's meet again in the battle."

"We shall become a part of your strength. This battle doesn't only concern you but the whole central plains. If Supreme Evil is revived, the world will be in great danger. We must stop him no matter what."

Leo nodded and walked to the door. Jessica bowed to the Heavenly Demon before following him, walking toward the aircraft.

Old Jin also followed them while grumbling. He didn't bring any weapon with him and wore a simple robe. Leo wondered if he would be okay, but he didn't have to worry.

They walked in silence to the aircraft and climbed in.

"What is this?" Old Jin looked around in wonder, his eyes widened at the sight of the aircraft. "It looks like a flying monster! Where did you get it?"

"I made it." Leo explained, sitting in the weapon seat. "With technology, not martial arts or Qi. It's faster than running and you can arrive at the Capital in no time."

"Hehehe, this will be interesting. It's been a while since I have seen anything interesting. The world has changed a lot since I was young. You lads are really something."

"Thank you for the compliment. Now, let's get going. Feel free to sit over there but please don't touch anything."

Jessica sat on the pilot seat and started the aircraft. They departed from the mountain and headed to the Capital, where chaos was still happening.

Leo knew that he had to end this as soon as possible. So he was going to go all out as soon as the target was found.

However, the one who thought the same way was Supreme Evil's follower.

Kang Jian looked at the sky. In his eyes, dark cloud was forming. It was Malice, a gathering of emotion and power that Supreme Evil gathered.

It was like a ball of dark energy, and it was ready to be used to bring Supreme Evil back to life.

"Head is dead, huh?"

That clump of Malice belonged to Head, and it was separated from her body when she died. He knew that he didn't have much time.

With a snap of his finger, a human puppet appeared beside him. He grabbed the puppet's head and extended his other hand toward the Malice gathering in the sky before it dispersed. The top brass, Supreme Evil's body parts, had their memories and souls stored in those Malices.

With those, they could revive or become a part of the Supreme Evil again.

To revive someone was simple. All he had to do was to gather the Malice into the human puppet's head.

And he succeeded.

The puppet's eyes turned dark and a red line formed on his head. His body began to swell and change, becoming smaller and curvier.

Soon, he had changed into a female with short black hair and eyes. She wore a revealing black dress that showed her cleavage and long legs, and she had a sexy smile on her face.

"My, did I die? My memories seem to reset from when I was a child. Also, is that you, Heart? You look pretty young right now. A new hobby? What happened to your old body? And what's the situation?"

"Head... Haa, all my training went into waste." Kang Jian shook his head. He had expected that this would happen. "You're talking too much now, not my preference at all."

After all, he was the one who told Head to gather sacrifice. He had thought of that as the fastest way to bring Supreme Evil back to life. To think there would be someone strong enough to stop her was outside of his expectation.

And now, her memories were reset to the moment where she first awakened, rendering all his loyalty training over decades useless. Right now, Head was the wildest and the most arrogant person.

It was not easy to control her like before.

"Training, heh. Did you control me before I die? How funny. You must have really loved me." She smirked, "However, you won't do that now. Tell me the situation and how far have we progressed to revive our Master?"

"Torso, Legs, and Hands were all dead. We only need 10 thousand sacrifices to revive our Master, everything is ready." Heart explained. "It's been 8 decades since our first awakening. And right now, there is a war. All sects tried to attack us."

"Only Eyes remained, huh? My little sister unexpectedly survives." She chuckled. Then, her expression turned serious, "Who's the enemy threatening us? Murim Alliance... I guess not. We're in their accursed base. I can recognize that."

"There is a group called Hallowed Insect. They are very strong, and they're here to stop our Master's revival." Heart explained, his voice grim. "And you died fighting two of their members. It's really a shame."

"Me? Against two of them? Hah, what a joke. There is no way I can lose to any of them." She smirked. "But if I did, then it's serious. I will have Eyes to return to me, making me complete. Then I will go and get some revenge for my death. And you shall not stop me."

"I won't. If you die again, I won't be able to revive you. I will use your Malice for our master's revival."

"Hah! Do as you please." Head waved her hand. "Not that I will die that easily. I will destroy everything in my path. Those Hallowed Insect, they will pay for my death."

She gathered dark Qi around her hand, creating a dark pill. It was a condensed form of her dark Qi and she threw it into her mouth, biting it like a candy.

The dark Qi began to flow into her body, and her muscles began to swell up. Her Qi changed and became thicker, making her stronger and more powerful.

"Hahahaha."

Kicking the ground, she went to where Eyes was. She knew that the enemy wouldn't be able to touch her if she got her power back. She would kill them all and bring back Supreme Evil to his full glory.

She couldn't wait to see the look on her enemy's face when he saw her back and how strong she had become.
