Chapter 94: Then What After That?
Chapter 94: Then What After That?
Chance nodded his head, "It is my pleasure to meet you sir, I have always a been a big fan of you."
He said the same words which he earlier said on the phone.
Bill was speechless as it was a big blow for him, Chance was claiming to be the Grim Reaper and he had no idea how to process this huge information.
"My uncle trained me well and I became an assassin at a very young age. When you did my background check, you might have found the information that I was the witness to my servant's death but the truth is I killed him. He used to be a servant at our home and after my parents' death, my uncle hired that servant to work for him and after three years we got to know, he was the one who divulged the information on my parents' whereabouts to my dad's rivals which resulted in my parents' death. After finding the information I needed, I killed that servant. He was the only target I killed in haste without proper planning. The cops were involved and I would have been the prime suspect if not for me pretending to have Foniasophobia. I fooled the psychiatrist who was treating me into her believing me and declaring my phobia. That's how this phobia ended up in my records and I too started taking advantage of it." Chance explained everything, he didn't hide anything from Bill.
Bill just nodded his head, hearing the whole story.
"Then I became an assassin but my uncle always wanted me to lead a normal life. I studied business management and started a real estate company with my two friends, Lucas and David. David just like my uncle handles all the back-end stuff for me, I met him when I was young as he too used to work at the same organization as me. Lucas too was an assassin whom I met at the same place. We three became close friends and we three decided to study at the same place and there we met our other friends."
"You just said Lucas was an assassin" Bill caught on this information and it ignited his curiosity.
"As expected from The Exterminator, nothing misses your eyes and ears" Chance smiled at him.
Chance's smile was so pure that Bill couldn't believe he is The Grim Reaper.
He always thought Grim Reaper was someone who was seven feet tall with a huge personality and looks scary giving creeps to anyone they come across but it turned out Grim Reaper was a charming young man.
"Since when did you know my true identity?" Bill coldly questioned him. He understood there was no point denying the truth as Chance seemed to know everything.
"I'll come there but before that let me answer your previous question. Yes, Lucas was an assassin, popularly known as Maestro"
Bill frowned at him, "Maestro is dead right?"
Chance again turned into a cold person on recollecting his best friend's death, "He was on a mission, let's say a client named X gave him a mission to kill Y. Lucas went to the place where he is supposed to kill the target but it was a trap. X and Y wanted to kill Lucas so they hired some other assassin from your organization to kill Lucas. I am trying to find the assassin who killed him, X and Y. I want to know who these people are and why they did this to him."
"That's why you wanted to contact Samantha?" Bill now realized what must have happened.
"Yes, I only got the information that the person who killed Lucas was a man who was working in the same organization as Danger-Ace. Two years back, when I had a call with her, at that time I already realized she was a woman. Therefore, I knew she wasn't the one who killed Lucas so I tried to find her next mission and coincidentally I and she got a mission to kill the same person in Hawaii. I went to Hawaii also to meet her and request her to help me but" Chance paused here and looked at Bill.
"But you fell in love with her?" Bill questioned him.
Chance nodded his head, "I have been in many relationships before but the kind of connection I felt with Samantha was something I never felt with any other woman. I enjoyed her company; she was trying to hide her truth from me and so I didn't rattle her out and somewhere I just loved how we were not two assassins but two normal people who were enjoying one another's company when we were together."
"Why were you ruining her missions then?"
"I wanted Chance and the Grim Reaper to be two different people for her and wanted Samantha and Danger-Ace too to be different women for me. I wanted to lead a normal life with her and I couldn't bring myself to share the truth about myself. Also, she really hates my other side" Chance smiled and Bill too couldn't help but chuckle.
"It is an understatement to say she hates Grim Reaper; she wants to kill him"
"Yeah, she mentioned it"
"So, you are going to deceive her?" Bill was straightforward with him.
"Yes" Chance didn't deny as that is exactly what he intended to do.
"That is wrong"
"I know but can you answer a question for me?"
"Hmm" Bill nodded his head.
"If I was indeed Chance Miller, would you have let Samantha's truth known to me?" Chance seriously looked at Bill.
"No but"
"If Samantha ever reveals her truth to me, I'll reveal mine. If she continues hiding it, that would only mean she doesn't want this truth to come out and therefore I too would keep quiet"
"She is going to be pissed with you if ever the truth is revealed." Bill warned him.
"I think I can handle her"
"I know her since she was very young, she is not going to be as easy as you think"
"Sir, you think she is being any easy right now?" Chance sarcastically asked him and Bill laughed.
"I really like you, I always admired your skills, I even wanted you to join my organization but Samantha never let me"
Chance smiled, "I am glad she didn't, I like being Chance when I am with her"
"So, once you find your friend Lucas' killers, you will kill them?"
"Obviously, after avenging my parents' death, I found pleasure in revenge and that is what I am going to do to Lucas' killers too."
"Then what after that?" Bill asked him.
Chance understood what he meant, he wants to know if Chance is going to continue this life of an assassin forever or there is an end to it.
"Honestly sir, I have no idea. After Lucas' death, David left this world as all of this reminded him of Lucas and he couldn't keep going. Maybe someday when I also reach that saturation, I might quit"
"And Samantha might never find out your truth?"
"She might or she might not" Chance had no idea what the future holds for them.
"Why did you decide to tell me the truth?" Bill asked him the question he was very curious about.
Chance told him how Samantha was in a gloomy mood yesterday and how he felt it would be the right thing to do if he wants her to be with him. He needed some help and therefore he approached Bill.
"Do you really love my daughter?"
"More than myself"
"What do you want me to do?"
"I want your blessing to marry your daughter"
Bill laughed, "Even if I give your blessing, she might never agree"
"That's my problem" Chance confidently smiled at him.
"Fine then, convince her to marry you, you have my blessing"
"I have another request" Chance hesitated but he had to.
"Go ahead"
"Can you keep the discussion between us a secret from your daughter?"
"Obviously, if I want her to lead a happy life, I have to. This is your personal matter and I will leave it to you two to handle it" Bill decided to stay out of all of this as he believed it was the right thing to do. After all he did the same with Sarah.
"Thank you so much"
"No, thanks to you for coming over and telling me the truth"
"Why?" Chance was confused seeing the smirk on Bill's face.
"I was planning to fake my and Samantha's deaths and to shift from here after knowing your childhood story as we wanted to save you from any other traumas. Samantha was terrified with the thought of you hating her"
"I did get that feeling, I figured out something like this must be in your minds" Chance confessed.
"You are smarter than I thought Mr Grim Reaper" Bill smiled.
"Please sir, I'll rather prefer Chance"
"Okay Chance"
"By the way, my real name is Chance Torres. I was adopted my uncle whose last name was Miller and therefore I ended up being Chance Miller"
