Chapter 408 Underground
Jane quickly arrived at the place where Arthur and Santiago were earlier.
She looked around with narrowed eyes, trying to figure out what was wrong.
She even scanned the ground for anything that might be suspicious.
Unfortunately Arthur and Santiago didn't even leave footprints.
"Boss, this girl is so beautiful, how about we just capture her?" Santiago suddenly made a suggestion as he observed Jane from inside the tree.
"You can enjoy her body and then force her to tell us something, isn't that killing two birds with one stone? Hehehe," he added with a bad-sounding laugh.
"Stop talking," Arthur replied, hitting him on the head so that he was in pain.
He was now close to destroying the Armstrong Family, doing such things was no longer useful, and he knew that the younger generation like Jane would know nothing.
The truth was that even the old ones didn't know anything. Only the head of that family knew something.
Fortunately, when Jane realized that there wasn't anything she could find, she simply left from there, back at the swimming pool.
"Boss, what are we going to do now?" asked Santiago.
"We're going underground," Arthur replied, looking down.
He wanted to see what was hidden down there.
As he stared at the ground he stepped on, it opened up, creating a passage.
He immediately stepped into it, followed by a rather surprised and confused Santiago.
He was baffled by the way Arthur's magic worked.
The problem was that he couldn't clearly ascertain what kind of magic user he was.
First he can open trees, now he can also open soil. Is he a master of both tree and earth magic?
However, sometimes she also sensed other magic from Arthur.
Right now, every time Arthur took a step, the ground in front of him opened constantly while the passage behind that he had already passed closed by itself.
They continued to go further underground, to the area where the Armstrong family castle was located.
"It's very cold here," Santiago said, looking uncomfortable.
As a fire power user, he shouldn't get cold easily, let alone just underground.
The truth was that it was cold here because of something strange and unknown. Arthur also felt it so he was even more convinced that there was something terrible.
It didn't take long before he and Santiago arrived in front of a very hard steel wall, as if any fire could not penetrate it.
It was pitch black in color, giving the impression that it didn't exist at all.
"Boss, do you want me to melt it?" asked Santiago, releasing the flame in his hand.
Arthur glanced at the flame and it went out instantly.
"Better not show your little fire in front of me," he said.
After that, a green flame appeared in his hand, which instantly dispelled any bad feelings around.
"This?" Santiago's eyes opened wide as he looked at the fire because he felt like the fire inside his body wanted to submit to the green fire.
That was more surprising to him than the fact that Arthur also had the power of fire.
With a leisurely motion, Arthur touched the steel wall using his hand that was enveloped in green flames.
Instantly, the steel was perforated, not melted as Santiago had expected.
The truth was that it burned until every particle became ash, which was why it didn't melt.
Within moments, a large hole appeared in the steel wall, revealing what lay behind it.
What surprised Santiago was that the steel wall itself was over three meters wide.
It was so wide for a wall that he wondered how difficult it was to build and how much money it would cost.
His gaze then scanned the things behind the steel wall.
Unfortunately it was so dark that even with his eyes, he had trouble seeing.
Arthur stepped into the space ahead without hesitation even though the bad feeling inside was obvious.
He stepped on the floor while his eyes emitted a faint light.
With those eyes, the darkness was no longer in front of him, he could finally see what was in front of him, and what he found was enough to shock him.
It was an extremely vast and large underground space. It was probably over a hundred meters high.
There was nothing there except for one thing, a strange creature almost a hundred meters tall.
The creature was black in color, having skin that looked like scales.
On its head was a pair of blood-red horns while on its back were black bones coming out.
Its mouth opened slightly, revealing rows of black teeth that were like rows of thorns.
Overall, its body shape was human-like, but it gave off an extremely terrifying sensation despite the fact that there was no aura emanating from its body.
Ciel lit a fire to illuminate the room. There happened to be a lot of candles, the flame burned each of them so that the scene became clear even to Santiago.
"Demon!" The old man was so shocked when he saw the strange creature that he jumped back, instantly breaking out in a cold sweat even though he was an Official Magus who hadn't felt the feeling of fear in a long time.
Even he wasn't that afraid of Arthur even though the latter had harmed him.
This was a different kind of fear, the fear of being confronted by a creature so horrifying.
"It's dead," Arthur said to calm him down.
Arthur didn't take his eyes off the creature, continuing to stare at it with narrowed eyes.
One thing he was very sure of was that it had power equivalent to that of a Great Magus, and he could tell that it had far above average combat power.
Of course, he had never seen this creature.
However, it was indeed similar to the Gog and Magog he had seen except this was on a different level or one could also say more majestic.
Curious, Arthur flew towards the creature.
"Boss!" That worried Santiago as he was still too scared.
Fortunately, nothing happened even as Arthur got closer to the creature's face.
Its eyes were tightly closed, but if its eyes were open, Arthur had no doubt that he could crush it with a stare because it was indeed a creature of a different level.
Even its head was much bigger than him.
He stopped in front of her forehead and extended his hand to it which immediately gave him a steel-like sensation because it was really too hard.
There was really no aura at all even though she touched it. The creature had been dead for a very long time and even the rest of its power was gone, only its body remained.
The reason Arthur touched it wasn't to confirm that, of course. He actually wanted to know the age of the creature or at least how many years it had been dead.
He happened to have magic that had such a function, but it also required great power so one had to be an Official Magus at least to use it.
When he saw the result, Arthur's eyes widened because it was so old.
Probably more than 100 thousand years old.
If it died when it came to earth, the destruction of the earth was probably also around 100 thousand years ago before a new civilization started a few thousand years ago.
'However, its death shouldn't be due to combat,' Arthur thought as he didn't see any scars on the creature's body.
That fact made him wonder what caused its death.
Of course, he also wondered why it was here.
After all, this place was some kind of storage warehouse. There was no way it could have just appeared here unless it existed first before the Armstrong Family established their castle.
Another question that puzzled him was whether the Head of the Armstrong Family had some sort of protection while here he did not feel any sort of power at all.
'This is strange, there must be something I haven't found yet.' Arthur began to make observations again in search of the details he had missed.
He even used various kinds of magic to detect things.
"Hmm, maybe." He then jumped to the creature's head because he felt there was something there.
His eyes gazed right at the centermost area of the head and he vaguely sensed something mysterious.
"There's a soul coming out of here!" Her eyes shone as she deduced something.
"Yeah, it's a very weak soul, a soul that can no longer control its own body."
Arthur didn't take long to come to a conclusion that he was very confident in.
That thing wasn't really dead. No, perhaps it was just as dead because its own body was completely depleted of strength.
However, it still had a soul that was also very weak but could still survive.
The question now was where was that soul? Where did he go?
'Mmm, maybe I can use that curse spell to track down and kill that soul with the help of his body,' he thought.
What he meant was of course the spell he got from Jaxon, the Otherworldly Spell.
He had already begun to study the spell though he was far from understanding its true capabilities.
However, the method he would use was a simple one as it used the body of the soul he was targeting.
This was still a far cry from the spell's true ability to kill by name alone.
