Chapter 57: Reikern Aurspec (1/2), Monitor Dome
Chapter 57: Reikern Aurspec (1/2), Monitor Dome
Inside the Aurspec clan's meeting hall, Aleron, Yueha, Rias, and Roxen sat at a table's south chairs while sitting across them were the Aurspec clan head and two of his nephews, James and Lake, along with a woman in her thirties, who was another Exceed-rank powerhouse and Melkern's niece.
Bergetta Rose sat on the east side of the table, internally sighing at this mess while also feeling pity for Melkern.
Knowing that both sons of Melkern's late wife turned out this way was devastating to everyone, but more to Melkern than anyone.
Melkern had already lost his daughter and first wife 50 years ago. Knowing the pain of loved ones' loss and treasuring their memories, Melkern handled this city in his care and was a good ruler to the people.
However, his sons turned out to be ruthless tyrants, killing and sacrificing innocents in pursuit of power by colluding with demons, which was akin to Melkern getting killed by his
own sons.
'The old man's mental state is not good,' Aleron thought as he looked at Melkern's eyes. He was sensitive and could perceive others' emotional state after awakening his soul.
At the moment, Melkern was a mess inside but kept composure for the situation outside while suppressing other things.
"We have to know about the full situation. I've tried contacting Reikern, but as
expected..."Melkern's nails dug into his own palm at the tight clench of his fist. "He is not picking it up."
"The situation at the Golden Nectar House must have alerted him," Bergetta nodded.
"We can't find him anymore, and-" James frowned. "-searching this whole city to find him will take time."
"No need for that," Aleron shook his head. "I've already taken some measures, and I am going to make one more move, albeit a big one."
Aleron closed his eyes.
But a moment later, everyone in the moderate hall felt a wave of energy releasing from him in an encompassing manner.
It was as if a bubble expanded from him and it didn't take long before the whole city was covered in this invisible bubble.
'What is this energy?' Melkern frowned. 'It doesn't feel like Mana or Soul Force.'
'Strange.'
The others were surprised but remained silent since Aleron's eyes were closed.
Meanwhile, Aleron was cooking a skill he called -Monitor Dome.
Spreading Magilore in this manner as it passed through everything and covered the city with multiple arcane syllabuses according to his desired effect as he designed it.
'It's not that easy, huh?' Aleron's veins popped and sweat beads formed on his forehead as he was trying his best.
'Light reflection...physical model, adjustable...it should be like a 3D map...'
After over a minute passed, Aleron finally opened his eyes as they glowed faintly.
When he looked at the result of his skill, his fist clenched with fervor as he successfully accomplished his goal. 'Now I can do it.'
In his mind, he could see the entire city and observe it live, observe every corner as if he were there, and more! Despite his magic potency increasing and reaching 5001 points, it still cost him over a million Magilore to cover the whole city with Monitor Dome.
After all, It would've cost him way more if he tried to do this at 1001 points in Magic Potency. 'I need to check my limit of control over the maximum amount of Magilore perfectly. Better do this early and measure it than in an emergency.'
'As for this Monitor Dome, I need to be efficient with it, but no time for now. I'll refine this skill later.'
"What did you do?" Rias curiously asked.
Aleron pointed at the table's center and said, "This."
His eyes released faint colorful ray traces that soon displayed the entire city in its miniature form! People, vehicles, buildings, floating air balloons, big buildings, and everything was displayed!
A live 3D Map! Although it was not like reality and was more like a hologram with assigned semi-transparent neo-colors to objects at best he could, it was still properly observable for everything!
"This..." Melkern and others were shocked as they realized what it was.
"I-It is a live map of the city," Norn gasped as she covered her mouth, her brown eyes shocked to the core. "How?"
Aleron waved his hand as the map suddenly zoomed in towards a particular point. Everyone saw two glowing yellow dots above a car moving towards the city's southern area.
"They are moving," Aleron muttered, looking at Melkern and others across the table. "This car has a police officer and a ten-year-old inside. At first, I couldn't understand the whole gist, but it became clear after acquiring your sons' memories."
"There are people in the city working for Reikern to kidnap kids for the demon's sacrifice and exchange."
Melkern narrowed his eyes, "Will they lead us to Reikern?"
Aleron nodded and just as he was about to speak, he sensed something and smiled.
"Master."
Everyone in the room was startled upon hearing the voice and turned to the table's left, behind the empty chair.
'I couldn't even notice her?!' Melkern was shocked. He had his soul sense covering this whole mansion in passive, and if an unfamiliar presence entered inside, he would directly know!
But he couldn't even sense anything and this mysterious figure in black silently arrived here and stood at the side with no one noticing until she spoke.
"What did you find?" Aleron asked.
Mei nodded and reported to Aleron via soul transmission as it would be faster to relay information this way than speaking via mouth.
After a few seconds, Aleron's brows furrowed and he looked at Melkern before sighing, "Tell me the safest place in this city where no one would check anything or get suspicious of any
crime."
"That..."Melkern frowned, but his eyes widened a moment later and he stood up in shock. "No way," Bergetta muttered and looked down at the floor.
"That bastard!!" James shouted with red eyes. "How dare he sully the Aurspec clan and clan head like this!"
"C-Clan head," Lake looked at Melkern, unable to bear how broken his eyes looked and what he must have been going through.
"And he didn't just make contact with a demon and exchange resources," Aleron said as his demeanor turned cold again. "There is a demon under this mansion right now. A powerful one
at that."
'I just hope it's not as strong as that darned Akuma.'
"Master, it is a Greater Demon of 10th Class," Yueha said with a frown as she also just finished inspection after hearing Mei's report.
"Class 10?!" Melkern snapped out of his state as he heard it, his eyes showing clear panic.
"This is bad."
"Is it bad for us too?" Aleron turned to Yueha. 'Hopefully not another enemy stronger than us
like that Akuma...'
"Class 10 Greater Demon? That's no less threat than that Akuma," Rias shuddered. "Although they do not possess people, they are still strong and class 10 is above Primeval rank in terms of
pure stats!"
Roxen furrowed her brows "We should escape."
"If that's true, then we have to escape indeed," Bergetta said with a severe expression. 'This whole city might be targeted if such a demon is here. I have to let my people escape at least.'
She looked at Melkern but didn't know what to say. A part of her wanted to blame him since his son invited such a disaster here, but her thoughts were occupied by how to safely escape
this predicament.
"Is the Goddess Elysia's prophesy already beginning?" Norn trembled. "But why our city first? Clan head, what should we do?"
"Safety of citizens is a must. Activate the Bunkers and start evacuating protocol," Melkern
swiftly ordered.
Looking at them panicking, Aleron frowned, 'They don't even know about the demonic
formation yet.'
'Fang, hurry up.'
But suddenly, a nefarious aura filled the hall and everyone felt a cold chill suffusing in them.
"It's too late, father."
To the side, the floor wiggled like black mud before a bald man in his thirties emerged, with
his iconic draconic tattoo on his head and his creamy embroidered robe.
Reikern Aurspec.
