Cornered by the CEO

Chapter 135: Waste of Good Promotion

Chapter 135: Waste of Good Promotion

"Boss! Wasn't he your enemy?" she squeaked, unable to believe this news.

"You just saw me hold his hand. Ask everyone in the office about how lovey-dovey we are."

Li Min sank into her seat. "You did arrive in his car and disappeared for a night. You didn't go back to the hotel, either. Did you hide a sizzling romance with Mr. Mo and dupe me into thinking you were rivals like everyone else?"

Qian Meng saw the other's expression and thought she was about to cry.

"Why? Are you upset you didn't get to grab the popcorn and watch the show?" Qian Meng teased.

"No, I thought you were batting away all men from your side and now you are getting married." And then she became silent. "But you don't have friends. Who is going to be your maid of honor?"

Her eyes sparkled.

"We are not having a grand wedding. We'll sign the contracts, go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and get it done with."

Li Min grimaced. What a waste of good publicity for the company. She wouldn't even get the good food that could be expected at the wedding of billionaires. Such a shame.

Qian Meng seemed to see through her intentions. "I'll treat you to excellent food, don't worry," she snickered. "Which reminds me. Our company has policies for weddings, right? What is the leave like?"

She would enjoy a few days off. If only Mo Qingchen could stop working for a few days.

"We have the day of the wedding off or the next working day. And three days of paid leave for the honeymoon," Li Min recited. "You won't qualify as a late wedding, or you would have gotten a week off. But if you do get pregnant and have a baby… that's a different issue!"

Qian Meng glared. "I just thought about getting married and you are thinking about babies. Who said anything about little people?" She rolled her eyes. "Keep it down and make sure none of the employees leak the news to the media. Not before the current crisis blows over."

Li Min interrupted. "Wouldn't it have more impact if people found out that you were in a relationship and Bai Ye Qing was still pursuing you? Furthermore, the other woman was your fiancé's baby sister. Now that is salacious!" It would be Qian Meng's style to use her cards ruthlessly. So, what was holding her back this time?

"No need to pull Mo Qingchen into this. He is a peace-loving man who only thinks about business. Gossip and pulling his sister into the picture will not be to his taste," Qian Meng explained. "So, be careful," she warned finally.

"I bet he doesn't like the name of his soon-to-be wife dragged in the mud either," Li Min stated casually.

Qian Meng stiffened for a second and thought back to how worried he had been. How enraged he had been when he read the comments.

She pushed the door open and picked up her phone to give Li Jun a call.

"Are you free at six-thirty today? I need to drop something at your office for you to see," Qian Meng said when she was finally seated and ready to call Li Jun.

"And I can guess that this doesn't have to do with Bai Ye Qing or the current lawsuit you have on hand but Mr. Mo who you are making another agreement with."

Qian Meng fell silent. "You saw his name on my phone. You should know." She didn't need to explain.

"I understand. I will make no comments. The nature of the agreement is personal so I will ensure no one else is involved in the process and it remains between the parties and respective lawyers only. Is that okay?"

Qian Meng smiled. "Thank you. It's just an agreement. Nothing too scandalous," she said after a while.

"I don't care how scandalous it is. As long as it is legally binding," Li Jun grunted. "I will see you soon. Please don't be late. I have a lot of work to finish." And then he stopped short. "Please send me the video apology after you make it so that I am sure it complies with the settlement."

"No problem. I'll make it in the next hour and share it with you."

The call ended and she called Li Min in. "How good is your phone camera?" Qian Meng asked.

Li Min blinked. "It is excellent quality. The best out there at the moment," she said proudly. "Are we going to make the video now?"

Qian Meng nodded. "I need to send it to Li Jun and post it on social media and website soon."

- - - - -

It was six and Qian Meng messaged Mo Qingchen.

[Done with work. Coming over to pick you up.]

His reply came within a few minutes. [Sure.]

Qian Meng took her binoculars to the window and peered at his office. She saw the office go dark and smiled.

Always on time. As she suspected.

She packed up her things and left the office.

"Boss, the IT team has been given all the text and documentation with the format. The video will go live on your social media account at 8 in the evening and the social media marketing team will share the post on our official social media accounts with the link to documents and text."

Qian Meng nodded. Eight in the evening was the time when most of the world was on the internet, scrolling through social media for the hottest post. They were getting home from work, stuck in traffic, cooking food or playing games, and chatting with their friends. Everyone was online. And Qian Meng wanted the exposure of this video to be the greatest it could be.

That was her style.

All in or nothing.

"Thank you. I'll let Li Jun's team and marketing keep an eye out. If there is something important just give me a call. My phone will be on me at all times," Qian Meng prompted before heading down.
