Chapter 269: Interrogation (2)

Chapter 269: Interrogation (2)

One of the soldiers guarding outside heard Wu Lian's order and replied, "Yes, Captain."

The soldier, familiar with Wu Lian's subtle manipulation tactics, remained expressionless as he delivered a tray of food to the darkroom.

The woman's eyes widened at the sight of steamed buns and stir-fried vegetables on the tray. She swallowed hard, unable to hide her hunger. Though she could create water to trade for food, she often struggled to eat her fill.

Noticing her staring at the food, Wu Lian pushed the tray closer to her.

"Miss, you can eat while we talk." He said.

Without hesitation, the woman grabbed a steamed bun and began devouring it. When she nearly choked, she grabbed the half bowl of water and drank hastily.

Wu Lian calmly watched her eat. As her pace slowed, his eyes flickered for a second, and he asked, "Miss, are there other people with abilities like yours?"

The woman shook her head, speaking through a mouthful of food, "No. In my team, I am the only one who can make water."

Wu Lian's gaze sharpened when he caught crucial information from her words and asked, "Do you know of others with different abilities?"

This time, the woman nodded, "Of course. Our team is very strong. Our leader is a middle- aged man who can lift cars with one hand, and there is also a college student who can run super fast."

Wu Lian's mind spins at a fast speed as he processes the woman's words. After a moment of silence, he asked, "Do you know how you gained your ability?"

The woman shook her head, "I don't know. No one on my team knows how we gained our capabilities."

Hearing this, Wu Lian asked again, "Do you still remember the process of obtaining your abilities?"

The woman frowned slightly and tried to remember.

A few seconds later, her eyes lit up, and she said, "About two weeks ago, I was dying of thirst and wished desperately for even a sip of water. Then, all of a sudden, water droplets appeared from my palm. That's how I gained my ability."

Wu Lian remained skeptical. Praying didn't grant her this ability. There must be another explanation.

After pondering for a while, he asked, "What did you eat or drink before gaining your ability?"

The woman paused, looking thoughtful, then said, "Nothing. At the time, I hadn't eaten or drunk anything for more than five days. I was nearly starving to death."

Wu Lian frowned after listening to her answer. If it wasn't food or water, then perhaps it's something unseen-a catalyst we don't yet understand.

Deciding to leave the analysis to the lab, Wu Lian stood up and exited the room without saying another word to the woman.

Seeing him suddenly leaving, the woman grew anxious and asked, "Hey! When will you let me go?"

Wu Lian ignored her, looked at the soldiers standing guard outside, and said, "Keep an eye on her."

The soldiers saluted and said, "Yes, Captain."

After leaving the darkroom area, Wu Lian made his way to the meeting room, where Xu Qipeng and the senior officers were having a meeting.

His grim expression made everyone who saw him quickly step aside. Judging from his expression, whoever made him angry at the moment would be miserable.

As Wu Lian stepped into the administrative building, he noticed a staff member hurrying out and stopped him.

"Has Commander Xu finished his meeting?" He asked.

The staff member shook his head and replied, "Commander Xu is still in the meeting. It might take a few more hours to end."

Wu Lian nodded, "Thank you."

After expressing his thanks, Wu Lian headed to the meeting room on the third floor. Upon arrival, the soldiers guarding the door saluted him.

Wu Lian returned the gesture and said, "I need to see Commander Xu."

One of the soldiers responded, "Please wait a moment, Captain Wu."

"Sure." Wu Lian waited outside as the soldier entered to report his arrival to Xu Qipeng.

It wasn't long before the soldier returned, opening the door wider and stepping aside. "Captain Wu, please."

"Thank you." Wu Lian stepped into the room and calmly saluted Xu Qipeng and the other senior officers.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

Xu Qipeng, noticing Wu Lian's serious expression, said, "For you to interrupt our meeting, it must be something important."

Wu Lian nodded and reported, "Commander Xu, we have just arrested a woman who claimed that she can create water out of nothing."

The room fell silent as his words fell. Xu Qipeng and other senior officials were speechless that Wu Lian interrupted their meeting just to make this ridiculous report.

After a long pause, Xu Qipeng asked, "Captain Wu, are you serious?"

Wu Lian understood how unbelievable it sounded. That was why he personally conducted the interrogation to verify the claim. He looked at their confused expressions and nodded calmly. "Commander Xu, I just returned from the darkroom area. After interrogating her, I confirmed her claim. She truly can create water out of nothing. I think this matter is very important, so I came here to report it."

His statement sparked a flurry of conversation. Even the usually composed Xu Qipeng couldn't contain his excitement.

"This is incredible! If this woman can create water, then the water shortage issue can finally be resolved." One senior officer exclaimed while laughing.

Xu Qipeng nodded in agreement and said, "We must act quickly to invite her to join our base. With her here, we will never face a water shortage in the future."

As the room buzzed with conversation while Xu Qipeng and the senior officer began to formulate plans, Wu Lian stood patiently, waiting for the excitement to settle.

When the others finally calmed down, he calmly said, "Commander Xu, while this woman can create water, she can only make half a bowl of water after struggling for an hour. I don't think

she can solve our water shortage problem."

The room fell silent the moment he said this.
