Chapter 643 Bahubali: The Leagend of Amarendra (2/4)
Kavya's stay in the event hall was brief. As soon as she signed 300 books, she quickly left the hall. Thanks to the captain of the Royal Guard for taking precautions and instructing the inspector on what to do, more people did not come to meet with Her Majesty and did not make things more complicated by increasing the security vulnerability. Moreover, with the help of the police officers, Kavya was able to get out of the area fairly easily.
The release of *Bahubali Vol. 2: The Legend of Amarendra* caused a huge wave in society. The first volume of *Baahubali* to date has sold almost a million copies all over the world, with 950,000 copies sold in the Bharatiya Empire alone. This is mainly due to the limited literacy rates in Europe in this era. Before Vijay inhabited the throne, the literacy rates of the Bharatiya Subcontinent weren't much better since only the priestly and higher classes had any literacy. But once Vijay took the throne, Vijay resolutely put his attention on universal education. Though the implementation was gradual, the intent was always there. Vijay has been on the throne for almost a decade, so it is not too crazy to say that there are at least 10 million literates in the Bharatiya Empire.
Taking those exact same numbers, it is absolutely mind-boggling that every 1 in 10 literate in the Bharatiya Empire has read the novel. Though there may be some discrepancy since a single person could have bought more than one copy, nearly 950,000 copies in this era is still equivalent to the sales figures of some of the most famous books in the 21st century, like Tolkien's *The Lord of the Rings* or the *Harry Potter* series by Rowling, which sold millions of copies.
As soon as the release of the novel was announced in the *Bharatam Daily* newspaper, it set off a frenzy among the readers. Bookstores have once again been packed by people after a long time, and some people took it to the next level and started camping on the footpath so as to buy the book without fail.
Thankfully, Raya Entertainment Corporation was not as ill-prepared as it was the last time. Meera, the director of the corporation, resolutely ordered 200,000 copies to be printed at the same time. What's more, she even had an additional 50,000 copies printed in French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. Meera's aim was to completely spread the fame of *Bahubali*.

Chikmagaluru
Raghavendra Kulkarni fought his way out of the bookstore with sweat trickling down his cheeks. But he did not look annoyed; instead, he had a large smile on his face. "Finally, I got it," he growled in excitement. Raghavendra Kulkarni is a very reserved and respectful person as he is a researcher working on cutting-edge technologies, so he would be embarrassed on normal occasions to scream out loud like he is some sort of a hooligan. But in front of the novel he adored, he was absolutely defenceless.
The last time he read *The Rise of Shiva*, the first novel of the *Bahubali Trilogy*, he was fully mesmerised and couldn't sleep for days thinking about the novel. And now, after so long, Volume Two is released—how could he wait? He quickly wrapped the novel in newspaper and immediately left for his dormitory.

Colombo
Priyanka Deshmukh's eyes lit up, and she smiled like a pier blossom. "Thank you, Lalitha," she said, receiving the book brought to her by her maid.
"This is what I should do, young miss, no need to thank me," the maid kindly replied.
Priyanka Deshmukh quickly searched around her room if she had spare change lying around in her room, but sadly there wasn't any. However, she did see a 10 Varaha note right at the bedside table. Without much thought, she quickly grabbed onto it, shoved it into the bosom of her maid, and impatiently closed the door.
"Thud!"
The maid was left dumbfounded. 'Wasn't she alright just now? What happened to young miss?' she thought to herself, confused. She didn't even get to see what the young miss gave her. Taking out the paper that was shoved, she was surprised to find out that it was a 10 Varaha note.
"Ah! Young miss, please take it back. The head maid will punish me," she screamed, but she got no response from inside. She didn't dare to scream anymore, fearing that she would anger her. looking around cautiously, she quickly went to return the money to the Master directly. 'I wish I could keep this job,' she pled, clutching her clothes in worry as she swiftly walked downstairs.

Thiruvananthapuram
Edward Harrington came to the beverage store right in the busiest market street of Thiruvananthapuram. He was here to catch up with some friends who were mostly merchants from Europe.
Ever since he took up the post as an English language teacher in BIT Kozhikode, although his quality of living has improved a lot, his social circle has stayed the same. Except for a few students, whom he is quite fond of, he has no other friends. Hence, he often comes to Thiruvananthapuram in order to socialise. Today is one such occasion.
Edward Harrington and his fellow friend were laughing happily, hearing the joke of his Danish friend. Just then, Edward noticed something at the corner of his eyes that made his eyebrows rise.
On the main street, he saw a bookstore just opened, and the bookstore owner placed a poster of a novel on the outside. 'God! The second volume is released?' he exclaimed in his heart.
He enjoyed the *Bahubali* novel quite a bit despite it being introduced to him by his students. When he read the first volume of *Bahubali*, he thought that due to some cultural barriers, he wouldn't like the book, but he was blissfully wrong. Not only did he like the book, but he loved it.
In fact, the book even made him look into some other novels written by Bharatiya authors. Sadly, even though he found Bharatiya authors quite talented and their stories very interesting, he didn't find one that has yet to surpass *Bahubali* in his opinion.
Edward Harrington quickly got up from his seat. "I am sorry, guys. I have to go now," he said apologetically and rushed down the stairs right to the bookstore in order to buy Volume Two of the book.
Thankfully, even though Kavya's novel is quite popular in Europe and with the Westerners in Bharat, it is still not to the point of people camping overnight. Though by the time Edward Harrington got to the bookstore, a long line had formed, he did not think it was a big deal as he knew that the number of books per person that could be sold was capped, so he was sure to get a book.
Meanwhile, his Danish and Russian friends were confused as to why he left so suddenly in the middle of the conversation, but when they saw him run to a bookstore and stand in the line, they became curious.
Anders Mikkelsen and Dmitry Ivanov soon left the beverage house and joined the queue. Edward Harrington was pretty embarrassed when his friends came to join him, but when he explained his purpose, they looked enlightened and were willing to try the novel.
Thirty minutes later, Edward Harrington got the chance to buy the book, and to his surprise, he actually saw many translated versions of the book. But sadly, he didn't see one in English. Thankfully, there was still the native version written in Bharati, so he got that.
As for his friends Anders Mikkelsen and Dmitry Ivanov, since both of them had not read the first volume, they bought both volumes. While Anders Mikkelsen got the French version, Dmitry Ivanov bought the Russian.

Each and every reader sat in a comfortable spot as if they were ready to go on a journey.
The binding of the book was nothing too extraordinary; it was just a geographical map of the world of *Bahubali*. It was the same binding as the first volume.
Raghavendra Kulkarni felt nostalgic looking at the book. He stroked it a few times and excitedly flipped open the page. He could still remember the first feeling he had when he looked at the heavenly waterfall of Kavya. He was looking forward to what the first illustration would be this time around.
In fact, Priyanka Deshmukh, Edward Harrington, Jaya Dwaja Singha, Kiran Poojari, Gangadhar, and others were also anticipating the same thing.
Opening the page, they were very disappointed as it did not contain any illustrations like it did in the first volume.
"Pity!" Edward muttered, feeling a little disappointed due to the absence of an illustration.
However, since it was the story that mainly attracted them to the book, no one decided to drop the book. Instead, they continued to read.
